When I was in highschool I took my first computer science class. I came into the class with a small understanding of python I learned from watching youtube tutorials. This class taught me many things about datatypes, algorythms, and escecially debugging code. I created a text based RPG for my final project and I had a great time making it. The next semester I took a game development class and I loved every second of it. I had decided that I wanted to go to college and study computer engineering. So I went to Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Studying at Wentworth was a grate experience, but it was also very difficult. I was taking physics, calculous, and engineering theory classes which all took alot dedication and study for me to pass successfully. A big part of being a computer engineer is learning about computer architecture and seeing how assembly code translates to binary and is processed by the central processing unit (CPU). Working with low level lanaguages taught me that programming is about manipulating data and then displaying the result to the user. I have an appreciation for c and variable names becuase in assemply you only have register numbers and you have to keep track of everything yourself. What a pain! When I had free time in college I liked to watch game development tutorails on youtube. I use to make games with unity, but I now prefer to use Godot.
I am now graduated form college and working full time. I am not in the games industry, but I am working on my game portfolio so that I have something so show when I apply to be a game developer. I still make games on my free time and I use Godot as it is a very good engine and I enjoy using it. For me to be a better game developer I want to improve my art skills so I can make my own assets. I am working on a project now, but it is very early in the process and I have little to show as of yet. Hopefully I will have enough free time to get it completed soon.
